I enter a building called Shalom. — Saturday, February 14, 2026
Then, in the dream, I leave the building and walk through a neighborhood called The Garden. In a dream within the dream,, I come upon a box filled with loaves of bread and bags of cookies…….
I wake up from a long nap, remembering the meandering but indelible dream. I knew a dream beginning with a building called Shalom, Hebrew for Peace, must hold material significance. I knew a dream on the Jewish Sabbath, the holiest day of the week, and on Valentine’s Day, the annual celebration of love, must hold spiritual significance.
Dreams are the language of the soul, the voice of the Divine. These messengers of the night bequeath guidance, healing, and transformation, So, I spent days applying to the Peace Building dream the four-point R.U.L.E I teach: How to Remember, Understand, Listen to, and Express the message of the dreams in your life.
I wanted to see if the Peace Building dream might inform the direction of the Jewish Association of Spirituality and Dreams (JASD). I co-founded JASD in 2019 to embrace dream awareness as a fundamental pillar of Jewish spirituality and a spiritual practice for all toward tikkun atzmi and tikkun olam, healing ourselves, repairing the world.
On this the third anniversary of 10/7, when the decades long conflagration of Israel-Palestine burst into public consciousness, I am publishing the first of a three-part series on the Peace Building dream: 1-Today, the dream; 2-November, the context and interpretation, and 3-December, how the dream offers guidance for peace building..
I invite you to use the series as a guide to your dream exploration. I invite you to join with JASD to build a peace-filled world for all.
